PETALUMA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Beginning April 2026, Straus Family Creamery’s
super-premium organic ice cream pints and quarts will be available for the first time at Whole Foods Market stores nationwide.
The expansion builds on the brand’s existing presence in Whole Foods Market locations from the West Coast to the Midwest and introduces Straus ice cream to the East Coast, marking a significant milestone for a pioneer in sustainable and regenerative farming and organic dairy products.
Founded in 1994, Straus Family Creamery has been a trusted certified organic dairy brand for more than 30 years. With a devoted following in California and throughout the western U.S., Straus has built its reputation on uncompromising quality and a deep commitment to sustainability. Its line of all organic, minimally processed milk and cream, Greek and European yogurts, European-style butter, sour cream, and ice cream has long been favored by discerning home cooks and Michelin-starred chefs alike, including Thomas Keller, Dominique Crenn, and early champion Alice Waters. With Whole Foods Market’s national expansion, even more ice cream lovers across the country can now enjoy Straus.
Straus Family Creamery’s collection of 12 super-premium ice creams offers elevated interpretations of beloved flavors like Vanilla Bean, Dutch Chocolate, Cookies &Cream, and Mint Chip, crafted with the highest-quality ingredients. Made with Straus organic milk and cream sourced from family farms along California’s northern coast, each batch begins with cream high in butterfat and incorporates less air, resulting in an exceptionally rich texture. Egg yolks serve as the only stabilizer, and all flavors are certified kosher and free from artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives.
“Our mission has always been to show that organic and regenerative dairy farming can produce extraordinary products while sustaining family farms and caring for the planet,” said Albert Straus, founder and executive chair of Straus Family Creamery. “Ice cream was one of the reasons I started Straus Family Creamery, and expanding nationally at Whole Foods Market allows us to bring that joy—and our commitment to sustainability—to more people than ever before.”
Albert Straus’ family farm, Straus Dairy Farm, became the first certified organic dairy farm west of the Mississippi in 1994, when Straus, a second-generation farmer and lifelong environmental innovator, converted the operation from conventional to organic. That same year, he launched Straus Family Creamery as the first 100% certified organic creamery in the United States.
Rooted in sustainability since its founding, Straus Family Creamery sources milk from 13 local dairy farms, including Straus Dairy Farm, that follow certified organic, sustainable, regenerative, and carbon-neutral practices. These farms are located an average of 15 miles from the creamery, reducing transportation impacts and strengthening the local food supply chain. Straus Family Creamery incentivizes its dairy farms to achieve on-farm carbon neutrality by 2030 through regenerative practices, including carbon farming, which returns carbon from the atmosphere to the soil and is recognized globally as a climate solution.
Ice cream has long been a personal passion for Albert Straus, who studied dairy science at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. The Straus Family Creamery ice cream line launched in 2003 with three flavors: Vanilla Bean, Dutch Chocolate, and Raspberry.
Straus Family Creamery ice cream is expanding its ice cream distribution at Whole Foods Market locations nationwide beginning in April 2026. Quarts will ship nationwide in three classic flavors—Vanilla Bean, Dutch Chocolate, and Mint Chip.
Pints will be available in five core flavors across all markets: Vanilla Bean, Dutch Chocolate, Strawberry, Coffee, and Cookies & Cream. Regional exclusives further round out the assortment, with Mint Chip and Cookie Dough available from California through the Midwest, and Vanilla Chip and Vanilla Fudge Swirl on the East Coast.
