Hog Nog by Straus Family Creamery & Hog Island Oysters

Crafted by Hog Island Oyster Co. Beverage Director, Saul Ranella

Ingredients

  •  Rye Whiskey
  •  Sweet Vermouth
  •  Averna Amaro
  •  Pimento Dram
  •  Simple Syrup
  •  Lemon Juice
  •   Straus Organic Eggnog

Instructions

  • In a 64-ounce mason jar, combine the Rye Whiskey, Sweet Vermouth, Averna Amaro, Pimento Dram, Simple Syrup, and Lemon Juice.

  • In another 64-ounce mason jar, add the 2 cups of warmed Straus Old-Fashioned Organic Eggnog.

  • Pour the alcoholic mixture from the first jar into the second jar containing the eggnog. As you do this, you'll notice the ingredients visibly curdle.

  • To achieve a clarified consistency, pass the final mixture through a large strainer lined with a coffee filter or cheesecloth. Continue straining multiple times until the mixture begins to pour transparent.

  • Serve the drink over ice and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and enjoy!
