Masala Chaas

Masala Chaas is a popular Indian beverage that tastes refreshing and includes healthful ingredients. This version, by @milkandcardamom, is made with our Organic Whole Plain Greek Yogurt, water, and a blend of spices, including cumin, coriander seeds, and black pepper. The secret ingredients for a balanced Masala Chaas are black salt, amchur (dried mango powder), and a rich, creamy yogurt used as the base.



  •  cumin seeds
  •  coriander seeds
  •  black pepper
  •  black salt (kala namak)
  •  amchur (dried mango powder), optional



  • To make the masala chaas, add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and black pepper to a skillet over medium heat. Roast for 1-2 minutes, stirring often. Remove from heat and cool. Add cooled spices to a spice or coffee blender along with black salt and amchur and blend until fine.

  • To make the chaas, add Straus Organic Whole Milk Greek yogurt, water, chaas masala and salt to a blender bottle and mix well. You can also use a mixing bowl and whisk if you don’t have a blender bottle. Mix well and pour into a cup of ice and top with a sprinkle of additional chaas masala and mint. Enjoy!
